First Owners of Pine Manor

George Meier & Sophia Busse Meier were the first owners of Pine Manor in 1928. But were they cousins? You tell me.

Fredrick Busse

In the summer of 1848, Fredrick & Johanna Busse, immigrants from Hanover, Germany, walked to the end of Milwaukee Avenue with their four sons and two daughters, seeking personal freedom, opportunity, and rich black earth. They found all three in Elk Grove Township.

Their son, Christian Busse and his wife Friederica had their son  Henry W. Busse nine years later. Henry would be a first cousin to County Commissioner William Busse.
