Mr. Mott of Lincolnshire retired from Peoples Gas in 1971. He had served as auditor of the utility and in other executive capacities including superintendent of the Property Accounting Department.
Mr. Mott was named president of Lincolnshire in 1978 while serving his second four year term on the village board. He previously had been a member of the Mt Prospect village board for eight years. He was a graduate of Northwestern University’s school of commerce and Harvard University’s business school. Mr. Mott had been member of the American Gas Association since 1948 and through the years had served as chairman of several association committees. He had been a member of the Citizens Committee on Cook County Government, a member of the Chicago Association of Commerce Industry, and a charter member of the Mount Prospect Historical Society. In the 1960s, Mr. Mott served as chairman of the water commission which was formed in 1957 by Des Plaines, Arlington Heights, Mount Prospect and Palatine to get Lake Michigan water for the suburbs.
Mr. Mott is survived by his wife Grace, three sons James, Thomas, and Robert, as well as five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 7:30 Tuesday in South Church Community Baptist 501 Emerson St Mt Prospect.
